Camera systems

Security camera systems in Bourne, MA

A camera system is only as good as its placement, its recording, and your ability to actually get to the footage when you need it. All three are worth getting right the first time.

What this covers

  • IP and PoE camera systems for homes and businesses
  • Placement planning — coverage, lighting, and angles that hold up at night
  • NVR and recorder setup with retention that suits your needs
  • Remote viewing on your phone, configured securely
  • Repairs and expansion of existing systems
  • Fixing cameras that keep dropping off the network

How we approach it

The most common problem with camera systems is not the cameras — it is that nobody checked what the footage actually looks like at 2am, or how long the recorder keeps it, or whether the app still works after the router was replaced. A system that looks fine on the box can be useless at the exact moment you need it.

We plan coverage around what you are actually trying to see: the driveway, the register, the side door, the stockroom. Then we set recording and retention to match, and configure remote access in a way that does not leave your system open to the whole internet — which, with a lot of cheap kit, is the out-of-the-box default.

Existing systems are welcome too. Expanding a working setup or reviving one that has drifted offline is usually cheaper than starting over.

Good to know

Questions about camera systems.

Anything not covered here is a fair question to ask on the phone.

Can you work with cameras I already own?

Often, yes. Standards-based IP cameras usually integrate fine. Some consumer brands are locked to their own app and cloud, and we will tell you when that is what you have.

Do I need internet for the cameras to record?

No. A properly set up system records locally to a recorder on site. Internet is only needed to view remotely, which means an outage does not create a gap in your footage.

How long is footage kept?

That is a storage decision — commonly two weeks to a month or more, depending on camera count, resolution, and drive size. We size it around how long you would realistically need to go back.
